Fredrick Atkins
PROFILE:
With Revenues of about US $ 50 million, Frederick Atkins, is a mid market Retail management company Headquartered in NY City, NY.
Key contact: Len Bellezza, Chief Information Officer
EXISTING SET UP:
The existing system at Fredrick Atkins was not tuned to handle the volumes, was not sophisticated and was not integrated with the Rockport Retail management system. The internal IS team did not have sufficient project management depth and had absolutely no experience with PeopleSoft applications. The users were not computer savvy and demonstrated resistance to change.
Atkins decided to buy the entire PeopleSoft Financials suite (GL, AP, AR, Costing, Fixed Assets) since the management of the company wished to leapfrog into best of class business applications.
BUSINESS PROPOSITION & THE CHALLENGE:
- Replace a traditional system with best of class applications.
- Educate current users in the use of a state of the art application.
- Ensure that users buy into the new system in spite of their knowledge that the work force would be cut.
- Very tight deadline for completion before the fiscal year end. This left Foundation four months to implement and Go Live.
- Interfaces and integration with Rockfort was done in Phase 2.
- Significant data migration was done to ensure timely Go Live.
- Entirely new computing environment had to be stabilized during the four months when PeopleSoft was being deployed.
Customer benefits:
Frederick Atkins had received several quotes for the implementation project. None of the quotes met their needs in terms of the deadline. The project effort was over-estimated and the price was viewed as unaffordable. Foundation's proposal, led by our Go Live @eSpeed methodology, focused Atkins on the key objectives of the project. Foundation delivered to the challenge of a four-month implementation and at a lower price than estimated initially.
